AAD Camp Discovery

Amazing, inspiring, comfortable, safe...

These are words kids use to describe the week they spend at AAD Camp Discovery. Camp Discovery is not just any summer camp; and these are not just any kids!

AAD Camp Discovery was founded in 1993 by dermatologists to meet the special physical, emotional, and social needs of kids with chronic skin conditions. While there, kids experience all the fun and adventure of summer camp, including swimming, boating, talent shows, campfires, and other activities they might have never dreamed possible. These fun-filled activities bring campers closer together, fostering new friendships and building their confidence and self-esteem.

Your help has made a difference! Thanks to the generosity of Academy members and others, six week-long camps are now available, including one especially for teens. More than 300 kids benefited from camp in 2011!

The success of AAD Camp Discovery also depends on dedicated dermatologists and nurses who volunteer their time to ensure that the medical needs of each camper are met. If you are interested in volunteering, contact Janine Mueller at (847) 240-1737 or send an email to jmueller@aad.org.
