“Philanthropy is an important part of my life, for both personal and professional reasons.
I have always believed in giving back to my community. And as a past President of the Academy and now as Chair of the Development Committee, I have seen firsthand how my gifts to the Academy can make a difference for my fellow members, as well as our patients and the public.”

Dermatology in Action was created to promote volunteerism and goodwill, and to demonstrate compassion within the specialty, including giving back to the communities that host the Annual and Summer Academy Meetings. The next hands-on volunteer project will take place March 15, 2012 from Noon – 5 p.m., which is the day before the 2012 Annual Meeting in San Diego, Calif. Learn about future projects or donate now! The Academy is supporting efforts by the International League of Dermatological Societies (ILDS) to prevent skin cancer among albinos in sub-Saharan Africa by providing them with hats and other sun-protective items through the Regional Dermatology Training Center in Moshi, Tanzania.
